Thanks for your comment and this is absolutely a great question. Either approach has its pros and cons like all the solutions. The reasons why I chose to present the three options are:

  1. As designers, we think a lot before landing on one solution. By providing three options with pros and cons, we visualize our thinking process and prepare for the question like “have you thought about this and that?” This normally saves lots of time on back and forth communication.
  2. As I mentioned in the article, I normally recommend one option taking all the solutions into consideration and explain to the stakeholders when I present. This resolve the concern about “UX Designer can’t make up their minds and they can’t decide on the best solution?”

However, you have some great points that different variations may confuse stakeholders. So I think it depends on the timeline and our audience whenever we should present one or multiple design options.
